Perdigon Nymph
Materials
- Hook — Jig hook size 14-18 (Hanak H400 BL or Umpqua TMC 2499 SP-BL)
- Bead — Tungsten slotted 2.8-3.5mm gold/copper/silver
- Thread — UTC 70 denier or 8/0 — color matters
- Tail — Coq de Leon (CDL) feather fibers — natural pardo
- Rib (optional) — Small copper or silver wire
- Coating — UV resin (medium viscosity)
- Wing case (optional) — Black nail polish or permanent marker
Tying steps
-
Slot the bead onto the jig hook with the slot facing rear
-
Start thread immediately behind the bead and lay a short base
-
Tie in 4-6 CDL fibers as tail at the back third of the shank
-
Wrap thread forward in tight touching turns to build slim tapered body to bead
-
Whip-finish three turns then paint a black wing case dot just behind the bead
-
Apply thin layer of UV resin over entire body and cure with UV light
Notes
Spanish bullet-bodied Euro pattern that sinks faster than any traditional dressed nymph. Six-step tie; slim profile for clear cold tailwater.
