Green Weenie
Materials
- Hook — Jig hook size 12-14 (Hanak H400 BL or Umpqua TMC 2499 SP-BL)
- Bead — Tungsten slotted 3.0-3.5mm, black nickel or gold
- Thread — UNI-Thread 8/0, fluorescent green or chartreuse
- Body — Standard Ultra Chenille, fluorescent chartreuse
- Optional collar — Hot orange or red Ice Dub
Tying steps

Slide the bead onto the jig hook (slot forward) and seat it tight against the hook eye. Place the hook in the vise.

Build a short thread base from the bead toward the hook bend. Optional: add 6-8 wraps of .015" lead wire under the dressing for extra weight.

Cut a 1.5-inch piece of fluorescent chartreuse Ultra Chenille. Strip the fuzz off the tip to expose the thread core. Tie in the exposed core at the bead and lock with three thread wraps.

Wind the chenille toward the hook bend in tight, touching turns, then back forward to the bead. Two-pass coverage gives the body a uniform diameter.

Tie down the chenille tag behind the bead with three secure wraps. Trim the excess flush.

Optional: dub a small collar of hot orange Ice Dub against the bead (the 'Sexy Green Weenie' trigger). Whip finish in front of the collar and trim the rear of the fly slightly past the hook bend.
Notes
Two-material chartreuse chenille fly from Pennsylvania. Reads as inchworm at 12-14, caddis pupa at 16, pure attractor in stained water. Embarrasses more respectable patterns on stocked and pressured trout.
